Three days. Twenty seats. Taught by a 45-year Texas Master Plumber and certified by HALO Water Systems. You leave able to test the water, spec the system, and close the job.
Most plumbers do not sell water treatment because they were never taught to test water, read a quality report, or have the conversation with a homeowner. It is not a licensing gap. It is a training gap - and it costs a working plumbing company six figures a year in jobs handed to somebody else.
You are already in the house. You already have the trust. The homeowner already suspects something is wrong with their water, because they have read the news and they have tasted it.
So they ask you. And right now, most plumbers say some version of “that’s not really what I do.”
That sentence is the most expensive one in the trade.

Hardness read from the utility itself, checked Aug 2026 · WQA scale: hard 7–10.5 gpg, very hard 10.5+ · national norm 3–7
Every hardness figure in this table was read from the utility's own published report or water quality page, checked in August 2026. Classifications follow the Water Quality Association scale. Conversion: mg/L as calcium carbonate divided by 17.1 equals grains per gallon. Background from the USGS Water Science School and the EPA.
Carlsbad and Dallas are enrolling now. More cities are announced as those two fill. Not in either one? Apply anyway, tell us your city, and we will call you when it is confirmed.
A single truck entering three homes a day makes roughly 780 service calls a year. At a 5 percent close rate that is 39 systems. At $7,000 installed, that is about $273,000 in added revenue per truck - in houses you were already scheduled to visit.
Run the numbers on your own operation. Every assumption is on the table - change any of them and the answer changes.
You are already in those 780 houses. You are not buying leads, running ads, or knocking doors. You are having a different conversation in homes you were already scheduled to visit.
Change the truck count, the calls per day, the close rate and the installed price. Every assumption is editable and none of them are hidden.
That is revenue, not profit. Equipment cost and labor come out of it. Your margin depends on what you pay for the system and what you charge to install it - and we work that out on the profit margin page, and cover it on day three.
If you run a fleet, this is not a class for one technician. It is a capability you build across every truck you own, and there is a page written for owners and general managers with the full case. Team pricing starts at three seats from the same company and is set on a call.
Illustration based on 3 service calls per day, 5 days per week, 52 weeks, and a 5% close rate at $7,000 installed per system. Not a projection of your results.
Day one is water science and certification: water chemistry, contaminant identification, reading a water quality report, field testing, and the first of three certification exams. Day two is product knowledge - what each HALO system does, which home needs which one, and how to present every product with authority. A unit is in the room to see and touch. Nothing is installed. This is a knowledge class. Day three is the sales curriculum - using a water test as a sales tool, presenting to a homeowner, pricing, objection handling, and local marketing.
Days one and two make you competent. Day three makes you money.
The full day-by-day breakdown, including what the $5,000 seat covers and what it does not, is on the curriculum page.

I treated water quality as somebody else’s department for most of my career. I would get the question in a customer’s kitchen, say something about looking into a filter, and move on to the job I came for.
I have no idea how much money I walked past. It is a lot.
I built that channel teaching plumbers the things nobody taught me. This tour is that, in a room, for three days.
More on the instructor, the credentials and the career behind this tour is on the about Roger Wakefield page.
Water filtration training teaches a plumbing professional to test water for hardness and contaminants, interpret a municipal water quality report, know which whole-home treatment system fits which home, and present and price the work to a homeowner. The HALO Water Tour delivers all of it in three days and issues the HALO Certified Water Quality Expert credential.
The people who run and grow plumbing companies - owners, executives, general managers, sales leads, and the trainers who carry it back to the team. You do not need to own a pipe wrench to belong in this room; the class is knowledge and presentation, taught at a level any tech can follow. It is not a homeowner class.
No. Most attendees arrive having never sold a system. That is the point of the class. You do not need prior water treatment experience, product knowledge, or a sales background - day three exists specifically because most plumbers were never taught how to have this conversation.
$5,000 per seat. That covers three days of instruction, your certification, a complete water testing kit, all course materials, and catered lunch each day. Travel and lodging are not included. Team pricing starts at three seats from the same company and is set on a call.
A HALO system typically installs for $6,000 to $8,000. Selling a single system covers the class. HALO reports that some graduates recover $6,000 to $8,000 on their first day back in the field, and that most of its graduates see their first sale within two weeks of returning home. Your results depend on your market and your follow-through.
That is where it works hardest. A single truck entering three homes a day makes roughly 780 service calls a year. At a 5% close rate that is 39 systems, or about $273,000 in added revenue per truck at $7,000 installed. Multiply by your fleet. Owners who attend alongside their technicians tend to see faster adoption back at the shop.
No. There is no purchase requirement, no minimum order, and no ongoing commitment. This is education and certification. You are free to sell whatever equipment you choose after the class.
No. There is no protected territory and no exclusivity. If a certification is being sold to you with a territory attached, that is a different kind of agreement with different obligations. This is training.
Classroom, start to finish. This is a knowledge and presentation class for the people who run and grow the business - owners, executives, sales leads, and trainers. You learn the water, the products, and the presentation. Nothing is installed at any class, and nobody needs to bring a tool. The room caps at twenty because coaching, roleplay, and working your own numbers stop working past twenty people.
No. There is nothing to install and no tools involved - this is a knowledge and presentation class for the people who run and grow plumbing companies. Installing water treatment equipment for customers is governed by your state and local licensing rules, not by this certification.
Carlsbad, California (October 27-29, 2026) and Dallas, Texas (November 3-5, 2026) are enrolling now. More cities are announced as those two fill. Apply and tell us your city, and we will call you when it is confirmed. Every city was chosen on plumber population and documented water quality problems.
Professional training and continuing education are generally deductible business expenses for a plumbing company, but tax treatment depends on your situation and your entity. Ask your accountant. We are plumbers, not CPAs.
